Do You Need A Tooth Extracted?

Sometimes, teeth need to be removed due to decay, disease, or trauma. When you get a tooth “pulled,” it’s called an extraction. This may sound scary and painful, but we can promise you that here at Tarpon River Dental, we excel at making even extractions a comfortable experience. Comfort is our number one priority during this and any other procedure you have in our office. We will provide you with a little numbing gel prior to the injection to make that step more comfortable and ensure that you are fully numb prior to starting. We will additionally provide you with blankets if you request to make you more comfortable and should you still feel a little anxious, nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, is always at our disposal to put you at ease.

Most dental extractions are over in just a few minutes. We may sometimes also recommend you have a bone graft in the site where the tooth is being taken out. This will prevent the jawbone from shrinking and prevent more costly procedures in the future. It makes replacement of the lost tooth with an implant very straight-forward. It’s quick and easy to do at the same time, since you are already numb! You also may be prescribed medications to control any post-operative pain and prevent infection. We will follow up to ensure that you are recovering well. Once your gums are fully healed, we can begin to replace the tooth that was just lost so that you can smile fully again quickly!

Dr. Petruk can confidently extract most teeth in the mouth, so if you’ve been putting off removing a tooth because of fear, why not give us a call? You’ll be glad to put yourself first and do something good for your oral health!
